About Pahoehoe Beach Park on Kona & West Island, Hawaii

Pahoehoe Beach Park is a small grass park in Kailua that has shade trees and places to sit and relax.

This park has a tiny sandy beach with a little protection from the waves, but the shoreline is mostly lava rocks and coral chunks. It’s a bit like nearby Magic Sands Beach in that the amount of sand can vary depending on what Mother Nature decides.

Pahoehoe a good place for a picnic and is a little less busy than Magic Sands. It’s also a popular spot to watch sunsets as you can choose from benches, picnic tables or the long seawall for seating.

Swimming, snorkeling, and even scuba diving happens here when the waves cooperate and the water is clear.

You’ll find Pahoehoe Beach County Park three miles south of the downtown Kailua-Kona waterfront. It’s just north of Magic Sands Beach and Magics Beach Grill. You can find parking along the shoulder of Alii Drive or park at the Magic Sands Beach lot and just walk northward along the street.
