About Manini Beach (Kapahukapu) on Kona & West Island, Hawaii

Manini Beach is a locals beach next to Kealakekua Bay State Historical Park and Napo’opo’o Beach. The only sandy beach in this park is a tiny spot where small waves roll in and the local children can safely play. It’s a pleasant family-friendly park with grassy and sandy areas that have beautiful views of the bay.

You can walk through the grass park to a gate and continue on to a shoreline made up of black lava rock and white coral. There you can enjoy relative solitude despite the waves crashing on the rocks.

Picnic tables are provided in the park but they are popular and might get taken early in the day. The hours of Manini Beach are 6am to 8pm every day. Note that this park is privately owned but open to the public. We need to be good stewards of places like this as we are lucky to have access.

Manini Beach at Kapahukapu is located on Manini Beach Road, a one-lane road that branches off Puuhonua Road near the end of Napoopoo Road (see our map).
