About Lehia Beach Park on Hilo & East Island, Hawaii

Lehia Beach Park is the easternmost public beach access in the city of Hilo. It’s a quiet spot with an expansive shoreline and a very local feel. There is no sandy beach or decent swimming area in the park, but the shoreline begs for exploration.

The real highlight of Lehia Beach Park is located on Leleiwi Point. There you’ll find a series of shallow and picturesque tidal pools. To find them drive as far into the park as you can and walk out toward the point (to the right looking at the water).

To get to Lehia Beach Park, drive east on Kamehameha Avenue on the waterfront in Hilo. This road becomes Kalanianaole Street and in a few miles takes you straight into the park. Look for a parking spot that’s visible from the beach if you can and don’t leave any valuables in your car. Park hours are 6am to 8pm daily.
